Special Events & Programs

Program registration is processed on a first come first served basis. You may register by phone, (860) 677-9222, in person, by mail or online. Payment options are credit card, check, or cash. Your membership must be current at the time the program meets in order to receive the member discount. Museum staff reserves the right to cancel classes for insufficient enrollment. You will be notified at least three working days in advance if a program is cancelled. Cancellations with at least forty-eight hours notice will receive a refund.

Creative Collaborations: Combo Stanley-Whitman & Hill-Stead Workshop

Two great museums in one great program! Stanley-Whitman House and Hill-Stead Museum will run a four-day workshop for children age 7-12 from July 25-28, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm each day. Children will start the day at Stanley-Whitman for a morning full of exciting activities and will eat their lunches onsite. They will then walk up the hill with a museum educator to enjoy an afternoon of great fun and experiences at Hill-Stead Museum. Each day will be focused on a theme that highlights the best of the two museums:

Day One: Architecture: Colonial & Colonial Revivial (assembly required!)

Day Two: Gardens & Creatures (garden gloves optional!)

Day 3: Behind the Scenes (collection storage areas, secret spaces & special artifacts!)

Day 4: Weaving with Wool (weaving & meet the sheep!)


Tuesday, July 25 - Friday, July 28, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm each day

For children ages 7-12

Cost per child: $230 for members of Stanley-Whitman House or Hill-Stead Museum; $270 for non-members

Children will bring a bagged lunch each day
