Program registration is processed on a first come first served basis. You may register by phone, (860) 677-9222, in person, by mail or online. Payment options are credit card, check, or cash. Your membership must be current at the time the program meets in order to receive the member discount. Museum staff reserves the right to cancel classes for insufficient enrollment. You will be notified at least three working days in advance if a program is cancelled. Cancellations with at least forty-eight hours notice will receive a refund.

In a Preternatural Way: The Witchcraft Trial of Mary Barnes

Stanley-Whitman House is partnering with the Farmington Historical Society to stage its popular play about a Farmington woman put on trial for witchcraft. Written by Lisa Johnson and directed by Kandie Carl of the East Haddam Stage Company, the play tells the story of Mary Barnes from the viewpoint of seven of her contemporaries. Barnes, one of the last people executed for witchcraft in Connecticut Colony, was executed in 1663 during what is known as the Greater Hartford Witchcraft Panic.


Registration and payment in advance is required. Admission is $25 a person.
